Issued to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the Smithsonian Institution. Co-designed Thomas D. Rogers, Sr. and John Mercanti. Original United States Government issued silver dollars.

The obverse features the Smithsonian Institution also known as “The Castle” flanked by laurel leaves. The reverse depicts an allegorical figure with the Torch of Knowledge.

Composition: 90% Silver, 10% Copper Alloy
