The Washington Quarter, still in production today, began minting in 1932. Designed by John Flanagan, the obverse depicts George Washington facing left, with the date below and the words “Liberty” to the right. The motto “In God We Trust” appears in the left field, with the designer’s initials at the base of the neck.
The reverse features a spread-winged heraldic eagle encircled by the words “United States of America”, “E Pluribus Unum” (Out of Many, One) above, and “Quarter Dollar” below. Mintmarks are found just to the right of Washington’s braid on the obverse.
